When you start your online home business the first question you will ask yourself is "What do I sell?" You can't run any type of business without a product to sell.
There are really three options for you when starting your business.
Firstly you can create your own product. This is an option that most people do not start their business with. Creating a product can take a lot of time and be very expensive. It can also take a lot of research in order to identify a target market to create your product.
Many new Internet Marketers make the mistake of creating a product without doing any research, certain in their belief that a market exists. After spending a lot of money and time they realize that the market they thought was out there doesn't really exist.
It is this research that is the key to your success if you are creating your own product. Having your own product gives you a lot of flexibility. You have a unique product that is not available anywhere else which can help you with your sales. You can also do whatever you want with your product - you can sell it as it is, you can sell resale rights or even master resale rights. However, creating your own product can take more time and means you already have a financial deficit before you start marketing your business.
Secondly, you can sell resale rights products. This means you take a product that someone else has created and sold you resale rights and sell it yourself.
This option allows you to start up your business much quicker and start earning faster. The downside of this approach is that you are selling a product that many other people may well be selling or even giving away for free.
This does not mean that you cannot make money from this approach - it just means you need to be a bit more innovative in your approach.
Thirdly, you can sign up for an affiliate program and sell someone else's products. This is probably the fastest way to earn money - with a bit of thinking and planning you can literally be online and making money in under an hour.
However, this is the least flexible of the three options. You are fairly constrained in what you can offer and what you can do with the product. Though remember, you can earn money the quickest through this approach. This is one of the favorite ways for new marketers to start out and many people make a fantastic living from this approach.
